The Armed Forces Major Events Team (AFMET) are best known for our delivery of the largest armed forces weekend in the region which attracts very large numbers of visitors to the Borough of North East Lincolnshire adding massive commercial benefit to the area through attracting over 180,000 people and bolstering the local economy.
We support our armed forces community not for a weekend, but throughout the year offering facilities within our HIVE as a one-stop-shop where our community comes together to receive direct support provided by professional services under one roof..

In September 2019, AFMET opened Blighty’s Coffee Lounge, so that the wider community have a place to simply have a hot drink, some lunch, and a chat. Since opening, the team have experienced a significant increase in demand for its services. They are now hosting Military Uckers Championships, and Bridge and Table Tennis Armed Forces community integration tournaments.
Here at AFMET, we have lots going on throughout the year. Whether it’s volunteering to help with organising the annual Armed Forces Day celebrations, manning Blighty’s cafe to help provide not only companionship, but also an essential income stream, or supporting one of the many events across the borough, we need people to get involved in our work.
